A Little Girl's Journey

A girl walked into an empty classroom early in the morning accompanied by her mother. As she picked a seat that she liked, another girl walked in accompanied by her father. They exchanged greetings and ended up sitting beside each other. A few minutes passed and other kids came in and the bell rang. Parents were there to comfort their child while others were paying fees and such. One by one, the number of parents decreased and soon all of them left. The teacher called the students out and began rearranging the seats according to height. The first girl from before ended up sitting beside a boy she knew from the year before right at the back of the class. They were both considered tall in their class. The boy was elected class monitor while the girl was just a normal student. The teacher then called the students out one by one to collect name tags that she had made for them. They were told to wear the tags for around so that their classmates would call them by their names instead of ‘oi’. Pretty clever.

Days turned to weeks as the schooling term began to progress throughout that year. The girl made friends and enjoyed going to school and attended classes. She also met some of her friends from the year before. She was delighted to see familiar faces among so many unfamiliar ones. They somehow made her feel happy even thought they were in different classes. Most of them were in the class next to hers while she was alone in her own. It didn’t bother her as she already made a bunch of new friends who would laugh and joke all day with her.

The year soon came to an end and it was time to say goodbye to the school as the holidays came. The girl was quite sad to leave school for 2 months or so and yet she was happy that she didn’t have to get up early every weekday to go to school.

‘till we meet again, my friends’ she thought.
