Epitome

The Oxford Dictionary defines ‘epitome’ as a perfect example of something.

To me, contentment is the epitome of happiness. One can only be happy if one if contented with the current life he/she is leading. Is it not? Well, that is my opinion.

How can a person be happy if he/she is not content? Of course it is human nature to always want more and more things which are not necessary in daily life. Always wanting more is a typical human behavior that cannot be stopped. This problem leads to scarcity in economic terms, where human wants exceeds the limited resources the society has and thus, leading to humans making choices.

In life, there were times when I was not contented but there are also times where I am contented with my life. However I can say that I am not particularly fussy in the things that I want. I take them as they come and also as events happen.

Still, I don’t understand how others cannot seem to be contented with their current life and the things they currently use/own. For instance, why envy others of new items when you already have one version of it that works just fine but is just slightly older. True, new stuff is always nicer and much cooler compared to the older version; that I have to admit.

In the events that took place recently, I really do feel that it is important to be contented with what you have at the moment. Life would be so much more miserable if you’re not and envying the others around you. Isn’t it? You’re just making your life miserable and also making others’ too because you’re always trying to get their stuff for yourself, that’s just sad.
