I just got back from KL yesterday and it was really fun! For one thing, this trip was a little different than the other trips I had had to KL last year in the sense that Kristie came with us this round. I offered her to come along and my friends were ok with it and so did she. We ended up laughing a lot and having a blast! Though I have to say, the train ride to KL was pretty boring seeing how we haven’t really woken up yet and the ice between Kristie and my classmates wasn’t fully broken yet. Still, we made it to KL with minimal hassle.
When we reached our stop, KL Sentral, we kinda got lost for a bit seeing how it was our first times there. We went up and down before asking a police there how to get to the Monorail station. After walking, crossing the road, queuing up for the tickets, squeezing into the train, we made it to Jln Imbi a.k.a. where Times Square is.
First things first, looking for the toilet. You have no idea how long the line was! There was like more than 10 ladies lining up. Next on the agenda, lunch! I cannot live without food! Haha We opt to eat at Wendy’s since everybody, except Kristie, had not tried it before. The burger was huge! One thing different about their burgers and Mcd’s, their burgers get bigger as we order bigger sets (large, medium, small) and their fries was different form mcd’s as well; they’re fatter(??) bigger to put it in a way.
So after everybody was fully stuffed with food, shopping started! But to be honest I’m not the the shopping type of person and according to Yun Zhen (my ex-foundation classmate), now we know how guys feel when they take their girls out shopping and they just walk around idly while the girls shop. It was boring, I won’t lie, but the people make up for it. We had fun just going into random shops and looking at the funny prints on t-shirts. There was a shirt with a picture of a saxophone hanging from a strap, making it look like it was hanging on your neck. I really wanted to get that, but it was too big!! T^T
Some were on a shoe shopping mission, others were shopping for clothing. I was shopping for CDs (as usual, that’s about the only thing I shop for). I had high confidence that I could find it in MyStar Collection (a shop that I can label it as my paradise. It sells almost any album and collectable item). So I saw Hoot, The Third Mini Album and Into the New World, Girls’ Generation the 1st Asia Tour. Which to get?!! Ottoke?!!
After walking for hours in Times Square, we decided to head over to Plaza Sg. Wang which is just across the road. When we reach there, some of us (me included) were already complaining of sore feet and wanted to have a sit. After grumbling for a while, we still continued walking as Kristie and I ventured into F.O.S. with the rest of the gang following behind.
It was there when I saw a hat (yes, a hat. I’m quite a hat fanatic just so you know). I’ve always wanted a hat like that, I think it’s called a fedora but I’m not really sure. I totally loved it! It had a white base with black stripes all over it. I took that and tried it on first and my friends said I look good wearing that. The price was around 30 so I contemplated on buying it. I tried other hats but none fit better than that first one. I walked out of that store empty handed.
We went to the first floor to look at shoes but quickly scrambled back down to the ground floor and headed towards mcd to find a place to sit and order a drink. Kristie looked for the seat while I ordered. After sitting around for a while, Zhong came to meet up with us. He went to order his food and after a while, I went back to F.O.S. to get that hat! Saturday is ‘no plastic bag’ day for F.O.S. but I didn’t need one. Just paid for it and walk out towards mcd with the hat in hand. Easy. Took off the price tag and on my head it went. That’s the thing about me, whenever I get a new hat/cap, I will automatically wear it until I have to bathe or go to sleep. I can wear a hat for a whole day.
My classmates came to join us for a while and then went off again to look around and that’s when Richard and Sien Son came looking for us. After sitting for a while, we went back to Times Square to a café called Food and Tea Hong Kong only to realize there was also a branch in Sg. Wang. The food there was awesome! The cheese baked rice with chicken was mouth watering! A thick layer of cheese on top of the chicken and a generous serving of rice was more than enough for me; I didn’t even finish the rice!
After dinner, we walked around for a bit and then met up with my classmates to go to the Monorail station and head back to KL Sentral and go back to Kampar. Everybody came along and it was a miracle that all 9 (yes, 9, my new fav number! LOL) managed to cramp into the monorail before the door closes. It was SO packed in there! I only had two concerns; 1. Did everybody manage to get in? 2. My poster!!
Being squeezed worst than sardines in a can, I had to make sure my poster was well protected so I lifted it up and I sort of felt like the Statue of Liberty holding it up in the train. Richard commented ‘Zhi, you really protect that poster with all your might.’ Of course! It’s my precious poster after all, this would be the 3rd time I carried a poster for the whole day and went back home with it in perfect condition.
Zhong got off after one stop (Hang Tuah) while the rest of us went all the way to KL Sentral. We separated there as Richard and Sien Son went to the LRT while we went to the Intercity Train platform. After scrambling here and there, we made it on the train safely and the journey back started.
It wasn’t as uneventful as the journey to KL though, we talked and chatted about the events that took place earlier and talked about childhood games and what-not. It was hilarious thinking back on the silly games we played and it never seemed to bore us out when we were little. Then Yun Zhen suddenly mentioned using a handkerchief and folding it into a bra shape. I totally forgot about that! After a quick demonstration, everything came back.
2hours on the train went by quickly with us talking non-stop and we reached Kampar around midnight. Never once we were so happy to reach Kampar. We were tired, stinky and our bodies ached from walking all day.
