More Than Words

I think it’s possible to sense a person’s mood through the words he/she typed. Just by reading a few simple lines is enough to tell you what the person is feeling at that moment of time when the words were penned. I myself can remember the exact emotion that I was feeling when I wrote my previous posts. Even if it were after a very long time, re-reading the lines carefully allows me to.

Which is why when I communicate with others using words, as in a typed conversation, I tend to be careful of what I’m saying and what mood am I setting it in. I don’t want the recipient to get the wrong message and is offended by a harmless message.

There are also times where I have to be rational and control myself from exploding through messages. Let’s say a person comes and starts a conversation with me (via FB, MSN etc) when I’m busy, I try to subtly tell them I'm not in the mood to talk but some just don’t get the message. And to be honest, I don’t really want to harshly tell you ‘Hey, can’t you see I’m busy right now?’

Instead, what I normally do is just give short, one worded replies and hope that the other party understands that I don’t want to be disturbed and leave me alone. I think short resplies are the best way to tell others that you don’t want/have the time to talk right at that moment. I can sense that my presence is unwanted by the other by reading their replies so I’ll let them be after a while.

Words are interesting, aren’t they? =]
