Of Jeans and Skirts (and the occasional dresses)

Dresses, why are there such a thing called dresses? Why is it that girls are expected to wear dresses and skirts? Why were they invented in the first place? Can’t women in those days wear pants too? Pants are so much more convenient and not to mention comfortable. Girls can run and jump as much as they want in pants and shorts.

As a kid, I stopped wearing those dresses and skirts when I reached a certain age, around 8 or 9 I think? I found shorts much more comfortable than those dresses and skirts and it didn’t help that I was quite a tomboy when I was younger. I had successfully avoided wearing any dresses or skirts with exception of my school uniform. That couldn’t be helped.

Every Chinese New Year, my aunts would make a fuss as to why was I in jeans again and not in a skirt. Does it really matter? I don’t think so. But to them, they already stereotyped that girls must wear dresses and skirts. It really did annoy the heck out of me that I had to hear that question every year. But, I had to bear with it. There was nothing I can do about it. So I just let them be and went along with my own business and activities. Nobody bothered me about the topic anymore.

That is, until..

Now that I’m older (last year to be exact), my friends were insisting that I wore a dress to an annual dinner held by the school’s board. I didn’t want to, I wasn’t used to the idea of me in a dress (and I still am not). So they took me shopping for a dress and a pair of (killer) heels. Wore them once, and I don’t think I’m going to touch them again.

Oh, how I miss being a kid when I can use my age as an excuse to wear jeans and t-shirt to dinners!!!!

Panda Eyes

It’s been a while.

These past few days had been tiring to say the least. I came up with a conclusion within that few days that my body needs a really long rest period to recharge after an exhausting activity. As most of you know, I went to the city last weekend and walked 2 malls with my bag pack luggage on my shoulders and carrying a really heavy book that I bought. I’m not complaining about my book, don’t get me wrong. I’m just saying that it’s really tiring doing that.

When we got back from the city on Sunday evening, my house mates and I were too tired and lazy to go out for dinner and we had cup noodles and fruits. That night, I had my ‘opening ceremony’ of my precious book. Ok, I know I sound lame, but, I do have my reasons. 1. I’m a really big fan of them. 2. I’ve been wanting to buy the book since June. 3. I could’ve opened the book in the city but I reprimanded myself from doing so (I was afraid that it’ll be damaged on the way back). 4. That book is huge and there’s a DVD in it which I’ve been dying to watch (though I’ve already watched it on YT thanks to those who pre-ordered the book online).

Thanks to the excitement of the book, I slept late, around midnight or so. And that was so not good considering I slept at 2am ++ the night before and woke up around 7.30am the next morning.

And when Monday came and it was time to get back to college, I was dead tired. My eyes could barely keep themselves open during Economics lecture and English lecture. I had a Maths lecture that day but it wasn’t that hard to keep awake since I kept myself busy by doing the examples in the slides. Tuesday was worst because I had a lecture at 8am; Economics again. But this time, thank goodness for technical difficulty with the projector, class started almost 30minutes late and I used that 30minutes to catch some Zs. So I was pretty fresh during that lecture.

So lesson to be learnt from the trip is >>>

Do not sleep late if you just came back from a tiring trip and have classes the next day. ^^

Good Things Come To Those Who Wait (or waited ^^)

Waking up early on a Saturday morning may seem normal if I were still in high school but now, it’s a bit of a rare occurrence. I woke up crazy early last Saturday to catch a bus to the city with my housemates. It was our very first trip together and I was looking forward to it for two reasons- 1. The trip will act as a good bonding time for us to get closer to each other and the most important reason no. 2: to get a particular book that I have been itching to get since June.

It was no problem at all carrying that book all day despite the size and weight and also not to mention that I have another poster that is prone to folds if I’m not careful. The whole day of lunging the book and the poster is tiring but I don’t mind at all. I did that once and I can do it again. But of course, I don’t think I’ll be buying anything in the near future. I’m sort of broke after buying that book, though I did save for it.

The book is HUGE!! It can’t even fit into my school bag! It’s not only damn big but it’s also damn heavy and also damn precious to me. I've been wanting to own it since June. Of course others have questioned the 'worthiness' of me buying it.

'Are you sure its worth it?'

Yes, people, i can assure you that it is very much worth it. It is worth every single cent and energy that I've used to get it. Call me a freak, I don't care. Like I said before, I'm not expecting anybody to understand; but it would be nice if people would stop giving me the WTH face whenever I tell them that I went all the way to the city and spent ___ amount of money just to buy the book. Its seriously getting on my nerves. Fans, if you wanna be good fans, buy your Idol's stuff! It's really an awesome feeling when you're unwrapping it!

Unlike those people who posted their 'unwrapping the photobook' video on YT, I'll just take a few simple pictures to show you.

Hmm...

I’m getting the feeling that people think that I’m weird. Especially when I tell them I’m going all the way to the big city just to look for one particular product. They start to give me that incredulous look and it gets worst when I tell them the price.

People just don’t understand how it feels to finally get something that one has been itching to get. They don’t understand the happiness or satisfaction one gets when that thing that they had been wanting for a long time is finally in their possession.

They just don’t get it.

I want to, but I can't. Why? Its not my style. 2.0

I think I’ll use this title from now on whenever I want to complain or vent my frustrations here. And also, post with this title would tend to be quite SS, just so you guys know.

When can I drop my current image and move on to a new one? When can I be somebody new and not be teased by others? Why is it that when I sometimes wear different clothes, behave or talk a bit differently, others are bound to comment? Is my current self that set until it is almost impossible for others to accept temporary change?

For instance, if I were to firmly voice out my opinion or strongly back up my idea, would it be seen as I’m being stubborn or rebellious? If I were to just deny others of one favour, am I being a bad friend? If I were to reject your ideas, am I being a blocker? Why can’t I express myself freely like others do? Is it because I normally don’t? Is that why others always take it as I’m agreeing with their opinions even though deep down (or perhaps not so deep) I kinda don’t like it??

Dancing Queen

It’s that time of the year again when we celebrate the Dancing Queen’s birthday! This will be the second year I’m celebrating it with SONEs around the world (I became a SONE early September last year).

Happy birthday, Hyoyeon!!!!

Though she doesn’t appear on variety shows as often as the others, but when she does, she really knows how to crack the audience up! I absolutely love her sense of humour and ‘choding’-ness. It makes her even more special and awesome than she already is. Even at a young age she already displayed great dancing skill during her audition and she also possess great confidence on stage! She was even put in the boys dancing class when they were trainees because of her skills. Hyoyeon’s special stage during their concert was freaking awesome! It was a spectacular display of what dancing is all about!

(sorry its not really hq, its the best i could find)

(awesome ain't it? haha. 18.04.2010 Into The New World concert in Shanghai)

Hyoyeon-unnie, I really hope that you’ll get more camera time on MVs and also as a permanent guest on a hit show.

Happy birthday!

Wishing you good health and happiness and success in your career.

Again and Again

All right, here we go again.

*ahem*

First week is so damn boring!!! Gosh, I do this every start of the new semester. I know I should be revising some of my notes but the system isn’t up and running yet so all of us are note-less for the rest of the week and who knows when the system will be fixed.

Now that I look back at my new time table, it’s so weird. When it’s empty, its’ really empty and when it’s hectic, I’m running from one block to another for back-to-back classes. Goodness gracious! But it’s ok, it only happens a few days in a week.

The worst part about the new semester isn’t the initial boredom, it’s the fact that I’m not in the same class as my group of friends anymore! T^T Not even lecture classes! My gosh!! I’m going to miss doing assignments with them a lot! But thank goodness I’m not alone! Haha

Oh, before I forget.

Happy 100th post!! Haha I know, I'm so random and weird.
